Documents for the order of service

  • Personal appointment at the registry office, possible at the earliest 6 months before the wedding
  • Copy from the birth register (not older than 6 months)
  • Proof of citizenship (also passport for foreigners)
  • Proof of residence (residence permit if applicable) - Registration form
  • Proof of academic degree or professional title, if you wish to have this registered

Documents & details for the church wedding

  • Birth certificate, baptismal certificate & registration form
  • If you are already married at the registry office: marriage certificate (take this with you to the wedding ceremony)
  • Witnesses: Name, profession, address, religion and date of birth on site
  • Wedding priest/deacon: name, title, ecclesiastical position and location

Further information

  • Time and place of the civil and church wedding ceremony
  • Name regulation after marriage

Also necessary

  • Attendance at a marriage seminar for bridal couples
  • Meeting with the pastor of the place of residence
